Biju Ramesh disclosed through People TV channel around an year before that Sri.K.M. Mani, the Finance Minister, has demanded 5 crores as illegal gratification to facilitate the renewal of Bar licence, and obtained 1 crore from the members of the Kerala Bar Hotel owners’ Association during the period between 20.03.2014 and 03.04.2014.
Opposition leader Sri VS Achuthanandan had sent a complaint to the Vigilance bureau, seeking a probe against Mani following the allegation by Biju Ramesh. This led to this situation now.
